Going back to childhood and to the magic of small gestures

roberto-coin-goin-back-to-childhood-and-to-the-magic-of-small-gestures_COVER

Every year in December, we somehow find ourselves surrounded by a world of lights and decorations that seem to belong to a different era; a time long ago, that takes us back to our childhood. It’s a journey that takes place so slowly that we almost don’t realize that it’s happening. The first signs of Christmas come a bit at a time with the lighting of Christmas lights in the streets, the first Christmas songs played in stores and those small Christmas markets full of stalls where the scent of mulled wine and spices fill the air.

At Christmastime, the anticipation itself is an experience that becomes almost a ritual – like when we were children and we counted down the days with our Advent calendar, impatiently opening one small door at a time to look for the little chocolate treat that tasted like a miracle.

Then there are the packages – the gifts that begin to pile up under the tree or that are hidden away in some corner of the house, wrapped with ever more special care. At this time of the year, we inevitably go back to being children again and on this journey into our past, we rediscover sides of ourselves that are hidden during the rest of the year, dormant under the layers of daily life.

Christmas is also a time of small familiar rituals; traditions that might seem strange or eccentric to others but that for us, represent home, love and sanctuary. For some of us, it’s a particular dessert that we absolutely must have at Christmas, for others, it’s waking up early to enjoy the reflection of the Christmas tree lights on the windows and for others still, it may be curling up on the sofa to watch the same old movie, year after year. It seems that these gestures, repeated over time, give us a sense of security that we rarely feel on other days of the year – small rituals that make us feel like we’re part of a bigger story.

After all, that’s what the real magic of Christmas is – the ability to make us dream. It lets us set aside reality for a moment and look at the world through new eyes, to find the hope that we often lose sight of during the rest of the year.Christmas makes us dream and dreaming makes us alive.

Care recommendations

Precious Moments of Care

Remove your jewellery before washing your hands, showering, swimming or practicing sports. Contact with water, chlorine, seawater or cosmetic products may affect precious metals, pearls and gemstones.

Avoid exposure to intense heat and sudden temperature changes, which may alter the natural balance of materials.

By caring for your creation with attention and respect, you will preserve its beauty for years to come, allowing it to shine as brilliantly as the day it was first worn.
