Following the Sparkle of the Ruby
- November 6, 2021

Appassionata was the name of the collection, launched in 1996, in which Roberto Coin included the small ruby for the first time. It would become over time the distinctive mark of the brand and the symbolic signature of its passionate creatoron every single piece.

Chasing the sparkle of the ruby we cross the pages of William Shakespeare, John Donne and John Milton, who saw it as a symbol of royalty and female sensuality, with the evocative color of lips and cheeks that turn red in the grip of passion. We pass through regal stories, such as that of the English crown, and arrive in Myanmar and Mozambique, the greatest sources of the precious stone.
And in this journey, as in the Ayurvedic interpretation, the ruby invigorates our heart
and heals it, with powers for the memory as well, for the heart and mind must proceed together, in perfect coherence, and the ruby’s action on them resembles that of the sun, which brightens, warms and nourishes.

Passionate about mythology and history,
Roberto Coin has followed the symbolic facets of this gem to elect it as a seal, a red thread that binds together his creations, all crossed by the red sparkle – always hidden, like vivid and vital blood that flows in the veins of gold and precious materials that compose them.
A story begins with passion and follows
the sparkles of the origins in an incessant journey, capable of converting time into a precious tale.
